happy new year!

New years resolution number one: blog, dammit!

I do a lot of cool stuff and take a lot of great pictures (that sit in purgatory in my phone).  I need to get more proactive about documenting and broadcasting my projects...and hopefully this will give me the push I need.

Anyway...MFP and I started a new New Years Day tradition this morning: I made Aebleskivers with the pan my future mother-in-law gave me for Christmas.

Aebleskivers are a sort of cross between a pancake and a doughnut, with a spoonful of jam in the center.  I went looking for a vegan recipe and ended up basing it upon a recipe from Oh, for Pete's Sake!.  I didn't have soy milk, so I used 2/3 cup rice milk, and 1/3 cup Silk Eggnog.  I thought they were tasty, if a little dense (having never eaten them before - ignorance is bliss).  MFP remembers them being lighter and seems to think his dad used beer in the batter.  We'll have to experiment more!

I also have been toying with the idea of knitting a wedding shawl.  I'm completely intimidated by lace, so I found what looks to be the easiest shawl in all of Ravelry and cast on tonight.  It's the Basic Triangle Shawl by Kate Atherley and I'm knitting it in Alyeska Hand Dyed Sock Yarn from Pagewood Farms.  It's a beautiful variegated red...I'm through the first repeat and it's looking awesome.

Here's a pic of Clementine sleeping off her NYE hangover.

Well, that's a decent start...bring it, 2012!
